The Breckenridge Pavilion is one of our signature wood pavilions, known for maximizing outdoor enjoyment with its open gable trusses, generous overhangs, and durable construction.

Made for hosting gatherings, enjoying outdoor dining, or simply relaxing with a good book, this gabled pavilion offers the perfect covered space for outdoor living with family.

So, when our client came to us wanting to upgrade their back yard, we knew this custom wooden pavilion would be the showstopper they needed.

Challenges
Every standout project begins with a set of real-world challenges. For this homeowner, those included:

1. Creating a Large, Functional Covered Space.

At over 750 square feet, this pavilion needed to feel open and inviting—not overwhelming or heavy in appearance.

2. Blending Warm Wood Tones with a Bold Roof Color.

The Copper Penny metal roof is eye-catching on this pavilion. The challenge was ensuring the wood stain and architectural elements complemented it rather than competed with it.

3. Adding Architectural Interest Without Overcomplicating the Design.

The homeowner wanted more than a standard pavilion. However, adding features like dormers and decorative beams had to enhance the structure without making it feel cluttered.

4. Managing Water Runoff from a Large Roof.

With a 21’6” x 35’ footprint, proper drainage was essential to protect the structure and surrounding patio space.
Solutions
The generous dimensions allow for this structure to be divided into functional "zones". Barstools and a dining table with chairs for lounging and entertainment. An outdoor kitchen station with a grill, an outdoor pizza oven, and a sink to wash dishes. An island and countertop space for preparing food and drinks without missing out on surrounding conversation.

While maintaining an open flow thanks to the clean gable lines and overhangs, the deep Mocha stain grounds the structure visually. On the other hand, while the warm metallic tone of the Copper Penny roof adds character and long-term durability.

The addition of one active dormer elevates the entire structure. Drawing the eye upwards, increasing architectural interest, and letting in natural light from above.

Custom Etchwood post wraps (made locally) add dimension and texture, while arched beams between posts soften the strong vertical lines. These details prevent the pavilion from feeling boxy and give it a refined, upscale appearance.

A full rain management system controls water flow, protecting the pavilion from leaks and the surrounding hardscape from flooding.
